DOMINIQUE

Age: 21

Location: Manchester

Occupation: Student

Marital Status: Single

Dominique loves getting stuck in and will not be patronised by anyone who underestimates her abilities. Despite being too young to vote in the Brexit Referendum, the opinionated and headstrong student is a staunch Brexiteer. She is often asked how she, as a black woman, can align herself with the Conservative party, which she believes is racist as doesn’t feel her morals should be defined by the colour of her skin. From a working class background in Manchester, Dominique’s dad died when she was a baby and she was brought up her mother.

Why did you sign up for a show that you know nothing about?

The challenge really is the mystery surrounding it, I think that is what attracted me. Also, the fact that there's £100,000 up for grabs and a high likelihood that you're going to be around people you don't know and that you may or may not get along with. I'm the kind of person who is always looking for adventure and always looking for new things to get stuck into. So, I just thought why not?

What do you think you bring to the show?

Well, I wouldn't say I have any distinctive skills when it comes to say, setting up a tent or starting a fire or anything like that. I feel I have really good leadership qualities and I feel I'm a natural leader. Not in the sense where I try and impose myself on other people, I hate people that do that. But I think when there's an absence of leadership and people don't know what's going on, that’s when things go wrong. I'm that competitive kind of person that tries to get everything in order to win because I really like winning! I think in something like this, you have to have competitive people that are willing to take control and try and win.

What sort of person really annoys you?

Oh, I can't stand people that are fake, people that brag and people that pretend to be something they're not. Because, for me, I can see through it straight away. I think I have a knack to spotting people that are trying to be something that they're not. So, if I'm with someone like that, I'll find it hard to take them seriously. I find it hard to warm to them and with me, I either click with someone straight away or I don't really click with them at all.
