4Skills Business Boost Terms and Conditions


By submitting your application to the 4Skills Business Boost scheme (“4Skills Business Boost”) of Channel Four Television Corporation (“Channel 4”) you agree to, and will comply with, the terms and conditions below.

  1. You certify that the information given in the application form for the 4Skills Business Boost is, to the best of your knowledge and belief, correct and accurate. If this is found not to be the case the application may be declined without any further reference to you.


  1. Having reviewed the eligibility criteria (link), you certify that your company is eligible to apply to the 4Skills Business Boost and Channel 4 may require you to provide proof that you meet the criteria. You acknowledge and agree that Channel 4 will exercise its sole and absolute discretion in determining whether an applicant has met the eligibility criteria. The decision of Channel 4 will be final.


  1. You acknowledge that your application and any other information supplied and discussed regarding this application, the assessment and decision-making process and/or in connection with this fund as a whole (“Confidential Information”) is and shall remain strictly confidential. You confirm that you shall not disclose to any third party or make public the Confidential Information without Channel 4’s prior written approval.


  1. You acknowledge that Channel 4 will endeavour to keep all information provided securely, but as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”) applies to Channel 4, Channel 4 may be required to disclose certain information under the FOIA. Where you inform us at the time of providing information to Channel 4 that you believe the information should be considered exempt from disclosure under the FOIA, and a request to Channel 4 is subsequently made for disclosure of some or all of that information, Channel 4 will use reasonable endeavours to discuss such disclosure with you prior to making its decision at its sole discretion. You acknowledge that Channel 4’s decision is final.


  1. At Channel 4 we are committed to keeping your personal data safe and secure and handling it in accordance with our legal obligations. We are the data controller in respect of any personal information that you provide us as part of your application for this fund, which may include personal details about your directors and employees. We will not share this information with any third parties and it is held securely in a dedicated inbox for 6 months from submission and then deleted.
  2. By submitting your application online, you are providing consent to Channel 4 processing the personal data described above and in accordance with the Channel 4 Privacy Policy (detailed below). If you would like to withdraw your consent, or change any of the details on your form, please email us at the same address to let us know. If you would like further information or wish to exercise any of your rights under data protection law, such as right of access, you can contact our data protection officer at dataprotection@channel4.co.uk.

7.            In order to be eligible for the 4Skills Business Boost, your application must be submitted through the digital application form before the deadline of 9am on 18th September 2023. Channel 4 will not accept responsibility for applications that are lost, wrongly sent or damaged, regardless of cause, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

8.            It is our intention that all applicants will be notified via email by 22nd September 2023.

9.            Any press releases referring to the allocation of funds from the 4Skills Business Boost must be discussed with and pre-approved by the Channel 4 press office.

10.          Channel 4 will not accept entries that are: (a) automatically generated by computer; (b) completed by third parties or in bulk; (c) illegible, have been altered, reconstructed or tampered with; and/or (d) incomplete.

11.          Insofar as is permitted by law, Channel 4 will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any selected company or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of participating in the 4Skills Business Boost application process except where it is caused by the negligence of the Channel 4 or that of its employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

12.          In the event of any allocation of the 4Skills Business Boost to a selected company, the decision of Channel 4 as to such allocation of funds will be final.

13.          Channel 4 reserves the right to cancel or amend the application process for the 4Skills Business Boost and these Terms and Conditions at its sole and absolute discretion at any time and without notice for any reason. Any changes to these terms will be communicated by email to applicants.

14.          If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, Channel 4 may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the 4Skills Business Boost application process.

15.          These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
